Claude, ChatGPT and any MCP client

Let an AI agent plan your RF.

SiteRF runs as an MCP server. An agent you already use can read a customer's drawing, search for the fewest access points that meet a requirement, plan channels and power, compare equipment models, and assemble the diagram, cost estimate and PDF report, with the same solver and rules as the app. Free calculators work without an account; everything else asks you to sign in and choose what the agent may do.

What an agent can do

Design a deployment

Read a DXF, PDF or image into walls and a proposed scale, then search for the fewest access points, with competing designs and the reasons the winner won. Plan channel, width and power on SNR and SINR, and compare access point models against the same requirement.

Floor plan files · Placement search · Channels and models

Check the numbers

Solve coverage for a whole floor, probe a doorway or a desk, and simulate a saved project with its placed equipment. Set the model against signal readings from a site survey to see where it disagrees.

Coverage solver · Projects and equipment · Site survey check

Produce the customer package

A deployment diagram with channels, power, mounting heights and estimated cable runs; a cost estimate that shows where every price came from and withholds its total rather than leave a line out; and a PDF report that labels every figure predicted, not surveyed.

Diagram, cost and report

Try asking

  • Here is our warehouse drawing. 5 GHz Wi‑Fi, at least −67 dBm in the picking zone, racks are 5 m tall. What is the fewest access points that works?
  • Compare three access point models for that requirement and tell me which holds up on SINR.
  • Draw the deployment with a switch in the north-wall closet and flag any cable run over 90 m.
  • Make the customer report, and list every assumption the numbers rest on.

A real run on our synthetic 20,000 sq ft test warehouse (7 racks, 5 m tall): the search returned 2 access points where a greedy pass found 3 and an evenly spaced layout needed 5, on channels 42 and 106 at 80 MHz. Predicted coverage 97.1% against a 95% target, from a 2D model with assumed wall and rack losses, not a survey. Read the whole session.

The same engine

The solver is the app's own, running at the network edge. An agent gets the numbers a SiteRF user would, with the assumptions attached.

You stay in control

You approve each app, pick one organization, and tick what it may do. Writes are off unless you turn them on. Revoke it any time under Organizations.

Estimates, labelled

Results come from a 2D model with assumed wall losses, not field measurements, and say so in every response.

With your SiteRF account

  • rf_solve_coverageComputes indoor RF coverage for walls and transmitters you describe, and returns what a planner needs: per-transmitter served area, signal/SNR/SINR spread, dead zones as regions, and co-channel conflicts.
  • rf_probe_pointsComputes the received signal at specific points: which transmitter serves each, signal strength, SNR, SINR, the margin over the next-best transmitter, and what every transmitter delivers there.
  • rf_list_materialsLists the built-in wall materials the solver knows, with transmission loss (dB per crossing) and reflection loss at a frequency, whether that frequency is inside a calibrated band or interpolated/extrapolated, and the provenance.
  • rf_list_bandsLists the radio protocols the solver knows (channel widths, assumed noise figure and dead-zone defaults), the band families with their frequency ranges and the clear-path model each uses, and the path-loss models with their stated ranges and citations.
  • get_contextReturns the SiteRF user, organization, role, plan state and permissions this connection has.
  • list_projectsLists the organization's projects, most recently updated first, with how many pieces of equipment each has.
  • get_projectA project's floorplan summary, placed equipment (with each radio's resolved band, channel, power and gain), and saved simulation settings.
  • get_floorplanThe project's current floorplan as RF walls, openings and racks in exactly the format rf_solve_coverage and rf_probe_points accept, so you can pass `walls`, `openings` and `racks` straight through.
  • search_equipmentSearches access points, radios and antennas: the SiteRF library plus your organization's own items.
  • get_equipmentOne catalog item in full: every radio with its range and widths, gain, connector, and how its figures are sourced (manufacturer datasheet or assumed).
  • simulate_projectRuns the same simulation the SiteRF app runs on a saved project: its floorplan, placed equipment (each radio at its own channel, power and antenna pattern), receiver settings and thresholds, for one band.
  • place_equipmentPlaces an access point, or a radio with its antenna, on a project's plan at a position. Changes the project.
  • update_placementChanges a placed item: position, heading, name, mounting, or a radio's channel, frequency, width, power and gain. Changes the project.
  • remove_placementRemoves one placed item from the plan. Changes the project.
  • set_simulation_settingsChanges the band, receiver and dead-zone thresholds simulate_project uses for this project. Changes the project.
  • create_projectCreates an empty project in the organization. Changes the project.
  • set_floorplanReplaces the project's floorplan with walls and openings you describe, in meters, using material names from rf_list_materials. Changes the project.
  • set_coverage_areasReplaces the coverage areas on the project's floorplan: the regions simulations and optimize_ap_placement measure dead zones and coverage in. Changes the project.
  • duplicate_projectCopies a project, with its floorplan, coverage areas, the drawings the plan sits on, simulation settings and placed equipment, into a new project in the same organization. Changes the project.
  • archive_projectArchives a project, or with `restore` brings an archived one back. Changes the project.
  • delete_projectPERMANENTLY deletes a project and everything in it: floorplans and their uploaded drawing files, placed equipment, simulation settings, surveys, report settings and saved reports. Changes the project.
  • apply_ap_designPlaces a design's access points on a project (by position) and optionally saves the band and signal threshold it was designed for. Changes the project.
  • upload_floorplan_fileGives you a signed, short-lived (15 minutes) URL to PUT a customer's floorplan file to: a DXF, PDF, PNG or JPEG, up to the limit in the result. Changes the project.
  • extract_floorplanReads a file uploaded with upload_floorplan_file and replaces the project's floorplan with what it finds: walls with a confidence each, doors and windows where a DXF marks them, and the scale. Changes the project.
  • review_extracted_floorplanLists the walls of a floorplan read with extract_floorplan, each with its length, layer, material (and where the material came from), confidence 0 to 1 with the reasons it is doubtful, and whether it counts.
  • preview_extracted_floorplanA picture of the extraction: the source page faded, every wall drawn on it and labelled with the id the other tools use (blue: confident, orange: doubtful, red: left out, purple: added by you), and a scale bar.
  • edit_extracted_floorplanApplies the customer's answers to a floorplan read with extract_floorplan: set materials (by wall ids, drawing layer, 'no material yet', or outer/inner), bring a doubtful or left-out stroke in as a wall or leave one out, add a wall the extraction missed, add or remove doors and windows. Changes the project.
  • check_floorplan_scaleCompares the plan's size with a real dimension the customer states (the length of a wall, or the building's overall width), and says whether they agree: the difference in percent, and when the ratio looks like a units mix-up (millimeters read as meters, feet as meters, …) it names it. Changes the project.
  • optimize_ap_placementSearches for the smallest set of access points that gives the required signal in the required zones of a saved project's floorplan, and returns competing designs with how each was evaluated.
  • optimize_rf_configurationChooses a channel, one shared channel width and a transmit power for every radio in a band, so the design is judged on SNR, SINR, co-channel interference and capacity and not on signal alone.
  • apply_rf_configurationSets the channel (or center frequency), width and transmit power of radios on several placements of a project in one call, from optimize_rf_configuration's `apply.placements`. Changes the project.
  • compare_ap_modelsDesigns the same requirement with each of 2 to 4 access point models and compares them: how many each needs (a full placement search per model, the fewest APs that meet the requirement), the bill of materials, and, when `plan_channels` is on, whether each design also holds on SNR and SINR and its capacity index.
  • import_surveyStores signal strength readings measured on site, with the project: x and y in plan meters, RSSI in dBm, and the BSSID heard, from a survey app's export. Changes the project.
  • list_surveysLists the site surveys stored with a project, newest first: what was measured, when, with which device, how many readings, and the latest comparison with the model.
  • compare_to_surveySets a stored site survey against the model: solves the project's placed radios, reads the prediction at each reading's point (from the radio its BSSID is, else the strongest), and reports the error as predicted minus measured (positive: the model promises more signal than the site gives): bias, RMSE, spread, per access point, by distance and by walls crossed, where coverage disagrees at a threshold, and the worst points. Changes the project.
  • generate_deployment_diagramDraws the plan with its walls, racks and zones, every access point with its label, channel, width, power and mounting height, the switches you give, and the cable runs between them with estimated lengths.
  • estimate_costPrices the project's placed equipment (or a design passed in): each model times its unit price, estimated cable from the switch locations you give, switch ports, installation labor, licences, contingency and tax, with the source of every price (the request, the catalog, or the organization's rate card).
  • get_rate_cardThe rates the organization set for what surrounds the equipment in a cost estimate: labor per access point, cable per meter, licences, switch ports, contingency and tax.
  • set_rate_cardReplaces the organization's rate card (what a cost estimate adds around the equipment). Changes the project.
  • generate_reportBuilds a customer-ready PDF from the project as it stands: the requirement as understood, a summary with the headline, the design (each access point with model, position, channel, width, power and mounting height), the deployment diagram, predicted coverage maps per band with signal, SNR and SINR figures and channel conflicts, alternatives you compared, the bill of materials and cost with the source of every price (the total is withheld when a line has no price), how far the model was checked on site, every assumption and the values the figures rest on, open questions and next steps. Changes the project.
  • list_reportsLists the reports saved with a project (by the app or by generate_report), newest first.
  • get_reportA signed link to a saved report's PDF that works without signing in and expires in 15 minutes.
  • get_report_configWhat the project's report says in the SiteRF app: title, subtitle, who it is for, which sections are on, the summary and assumptions notes, paper, units, and which bands and maps it covers.
  • set_report_configChanges what the project's report says in the SiteRF app: title, subtitle, document reference, author, client, sections, the summary and assumptions notes, paper, units, and the bands, maps and coverage target. Changes the project.

    • SiteRF generates and evaluates the candidates; the agent states the requirement and explains the result.
    • Predicted coverage from a 2D model with assumed wall losses (results list each value and its basis in `constants_used`); a stored site survey, once compared, is reported as `confidence.model_check`. Racking is modelled only when described as racks with heights (height-aware, with an assumed loss); furniture, people and machinery are not.
    • Designs one band with one access point model from scratch; existing placements are ignored. Nothing is saved until a design is applied.
    • The set cover chooses the fewest access points on signal; the winner is then channel-planned and, if SNR, SINR, a stated demand (`demand_mbps_per_100m2`) or a client limit (`max_clients_per_ap`) fail, access points are added step by step and planned again (`joint_search`). A demand the band cannot carry is reported as not met, not forced.

    • `regulatory_domain` (fcc or etsi) applies channel lists, DFS, indoor-only marking and EIRP limits; no other country is modelled and the catalog has no per-product regulatory data, price, power draw or PoE: price and PoE appear only where the caller supplies them.

    • Only an owner can set the rate card. The PNG diagram's labels use a built-in capitals-only bitmap font; the SVG is the cleaner drawing.
    • The PDF is rendered in the Worker; every figure in it is labelled predicted, not surveyed.

    • Granted with the change-projects permission on the consent screen, unchecked by default.
    • The file goes to a signed link that expires in 15 minutes, not through a tool call: the caller needs a shell or HTTP client to send it, or must hand the command to a person.
    • Accepted: DXF (ASCII), PDF, PNG and JPEG, up to 20 MB.
    • A DXF is read exactly: layers become materials where their names say so (Concrete, Drywall), and a layer named Glass is left out and put to the customer as a question. A vector PDF is read from its lines; a scan or photograph by line detection, squared up first. Either way the result is a proposal to check against the drawing, and materials, doors, windows and room names come from the customer.
    • A PDF or image has no scale of its own. A printed ratio, dimension string or scale bar is offered as evidence, never confirmed; until a real dimension has been checked the plan is marked unconfirmed and simulation and optimization refuse it.
    • Measured on 43 public drawings (32 with ground truth): mean F1 0.88 on DXF, 0.85 on PDF and 0.55 on scans and photographs. It has not been run on a range of customer plans; scans, curved walls and crowded hand-lettered sheets may need many corrections.

Not offered to agents

Deliberately left out of the first release:

  • Billing and subscriptions
  • Managing organization members
  • Equipment catalog administration

What to expect

  • Units and framePlan coordinates are meters with y growing downward, as in the app; frequencies in MHz, power in dBm. Tool descriptions repeat this.
  • LimitsA single solve is capped by grid size and estimated compute time. Over-limit requests fail with the numbers and what to change, rather than guessing.
  • Plan stateAs in the app, an organization whose trial or subscription ended can still read projects but cannot run simulations or change anything.
  • RevocationDisconnecting an app stops its project access immediately and its calculators within minutes.

Guidance

  • The free tools need no key and no account, and having an account does not change their results.
  • A user can revoke a connection at any time under Connected apps in Organizations. Project access stops immediately; the calculators within minutes. preview
  • An agent never has more permission than its user has at that moment: the role, the grant and the plan are checked on every project request.
  • Agent access is included in every paid plan and during the free trial, at no extra cost. An organization with no active trial or plan can read projects but cannot run simulations or change anything.
  • A new account gets a 14-day free trial that starts when the email is verified, with no card. After the trial the workspace is read-only and exports keep working.
  • Coverage results from SiteRF are model estimates: a 2D model with assumed material losses, not field-validated. Say so when quoting one.

Tool responses may include one next_steps entry where a result has a real gap, naming the capability, what it requires and its status (example). Add hints=false to leave it out.

Questions

Do the free tools need an API key or an account?

The free tools need no key and no account, and having an account does not change their results.

What does connecting a SiteRF account to an agent unlock?

MCP server for connecting an agent to an account (available); Solver reference lookups (available); Coverage and point-probe solver (available); Read projects and equipment, simulate a saved project (available); Change equipment placement and simulation settings (available); Fewest-access-points placement search (available); Channel, width and power planning, and model comparison (available); Customer deliverables: deployment diagram, cost estimate and report (available); Check the model against a site survey (preview); Build projects: floorplans, zones, scenarios and designs (available); Permanently delete a project (preview); Read a customer's floor plan file (DXF, PDF or image) (available). Each has a status; the page says what each one needs.

Can an agent change my projects?

Write access to place, move and remove equipment and to update simulation settings, off by default. Connecting an agent to an account requires the user's own approval on a consent screen. The screen names the client, picks one organization, and asks for write access separately. Write access is off by default.

Are the coverage results exact?

Coverage results from SiteRF are model estimates: a 2D model with assumed material losses, not field-validated. Say so when quoting one.

Does it work with Claude and ChatGPT?

Claude connects as a custom connector or through Claude Code, and ChatGPT as a developer-mode MCP connector. Both use the same server URL and OAuth sign-in, and so should any client that supports remote MCP servers. Neither is listed in a connector directory yet.

Which floor plan files can an agent read?

DXF, PDF, PNG and JPEG up to 20 MB. A drawing is read into a proposal of walls and a scale that the customer checks; materials, doors, windows and room names come from the customer, and simulation stays blocked until a real dimension confirms the scale.

Does agent access cost extra?

Agent access is included in every paid plan and during the free trial, at no extra cost. An organization with no active trial or plan can read projects but cannot run simulations or change anything.

What can an agent not do?

Billing, member management and catalog administration are not offered. The model is a 2D plan view with assumed wall and rack losses: furniture, people, forklifts and diffraction over rack tops are not modelled, only the FCC and ETSI regulatory domains are applied, and nothing is validated until a site survey is compared.
